Cancer Research UK

Cancer Research UK’s funding priorities are:

  1. Research into earlier diagnosis of cancer
  2. Increased funding for lung, pancreatic, oesophageal and brain cancer
  3. Increasing our understanding of the causes of cancer and role of the immune system
  4. Prevention research, with a new centre to support a long-term reduction in cancer incidence
  5. Developing new treatments
  6. Maximising the chances of survival via ‘precision medicine’

More details can be found in their Research Strategy.

Many funding schemes are offered. At the time of writing (21/03/16) there were 38 open calls and you can view each of them on their funding opportunities page where you can filter results by research area (e.g. Epidemiology) or experience of applicant.

Like other charities, CRUK fund direct research costs only, with no allowance for overheads such as directly allocated and indirect costs.
